WAITING FOR OPPONENT…
Math Blitz is a free mental math speed game that challenges your arithmetic skills against a countdown timer. Solve addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division questions as fast as you can across 6 difficulty levels from Easy to Nightmare. Every correct answer earns points, and the faster you answer the more you earn.
Whether you want to sharpen your mental calculation speed, compete on a global leaderboard, or challenge a friend to a real-time math duel, Math Blitz runs entirely in your browser with no download, no account, and no cost.
Create a private room and share the invite link with any friend. When they join, both players get a synchronized countdown and start at exactly the same time with identical questions, so the result is purely down to skill. Scores are revealed together at the end to settle who's really faster at math.
Every day at midnight, a new set of questions is generated from a date-based seed. Every player in the world gets the same puzzle on the same day, and you only get one attempt. It's the Wordle effect for mental math: a quick daily habit that actually makes you faster over time.
Round difficult numbers to the nearest 10 or 100, calculate, then adjust. For example, 47 + 38 → think 50 + 38 − 3 = 85. This is faster than column arithmetic in your head.
Multiplying by 9? Multiply by 10 and subtract the number. Multiplying by 5? Halve the number and multiply by 10. These shortcuts shave precious seconds off every answer.
10 minutes of daily practice beats 90 minutes once a week. The Daily Challenge is built for exactly this: one short session a day builds the habit that leads to real improvement over time.
Most players benefit more from completing Easy at high speed than struggling through Expert. Speed and accuracy at a lower level transfers up. Master the basics fast before adding complexity.
Completely free, no account required, no ads. Open the site and play instantly in any modern browser.
Yes. Math Blitz is fully responsive and optimised for touchscreens. It also supports haptic vibration feedback on compatible devices.
Your raw score is multiplied by your starting level's difficulty multiplier (×1.0 for Easy up to ×3.0 for Nightmare) to produce an adjusted score. This is what the leaderboard sorts by, so players who start harder are rewarded fairly. You need to score above 800 points to submit to the leaderboard.
Lower levels focus on addition and subtraction. Higher levels progressively introduce multiplication, division, and multi-step operations. Nightmare mode uses all four operations at maximum speed.
Yes, use VS Friend mode. One player creates a room and shares the invite link. The other player clicks it, enters their name, and both start simultaneously after a 5-second countdown.
Yes. Achievements, Daily Challenge results, and personal best scores are all saved in your browser's local storage. They persist indefinitely unless you manually clear your browser data.
Absolutely. The Easy and Medium levels are well-suited for children practising basic arithmetic. The time pressure encourages fast recall rather than counting, which is how fluent mental math is built. The game is engaging enough that children often don't realise they're practising.
